Judge Gordon A. Roe



      Judge Gordon A. Roe, 41, of 2436 Wildon Drive, of the York County Court of Common Pleas, died at 9:47 p.m. Monday at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center following a tractor accident on his farm in Peach Bottom Township. He was the husband of Denise (Bailey) Roe. 



     The service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road. Burial will be in Slateville Cemetery, Delta. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St. with Masonic Rites by Free and Accepted Masons White Rose Lodge 796 at 8:45. Memorial contributions



may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital, in care of Zembo Temple, 2801 N. Third St., Harrisburg. 17110 or to York Hospital Shock and Trauma Unit, 1001 S. George St, York, 17405. 



     Judge Roe was born in Houston, Texas, the son of Warren A. Roe, Houston. 



     He was a 1966 graduate of Lafayette College, of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, of Temple University Law School and earned a masters degree in tax law from Temple. He was included in Marquis’ “Who’s Who in American Law.”



    Judge Roe was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a lieutenant in active duty for the 28th Infantry Division as chief defense counsel. He currently was a lieutenant colonel in the Pennsylvania National Guard.



    He was a former assistant district attorney for York County Children and Youth Services, attorney for York County, Winterstown Borough and other groups, and was elected as a judge last fall starting his 10-year term five months ago. Prior to becoming a judge, he was a partner in the firm of Kain, Brown and Roberts.



    A member of the board of directors for nine years of the United Way of York County, he also was on the board of York Transportation Club seven years and a member of the American Legion and of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 



    Affiliated with Masonry, he was a member of Free and Accepted Masons White Rose Lodge 706, of Harrisburg Consistory, of Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forest 30, of Zembo Temple and of the York County Shrine Club.



    Judge Roe also is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. Roe and Abigail A. Roe, both at home; two half-sisters, Ann Roe and Pamela Roe, both of Houston.



     Officiating at the service will be his pastors, Rev. J. Paul Taylor and the Rev. Alyce M. McKenzie.     5/10/1986
